Roman Tsukman originally comes from one of the roughest areas of Russia, Siberia. There he was born in Krasnoyarsk on January 5, 1987. He also grew up there. In addition to general school, he attended a children's arts lyceum for six years. There children gained their first experiences in drawing, sculpture, and art history - he enjoyed spending his time there. The artistic education has shaped his decision to continue his education in the field and to link his professional activity in the art field in the future. After graduating from school in 2004, he studied design for four years in Krasnoyarsk W.I. Surikov Art College. These were the years of intensive exercises in painting, drawing, design and art theory subjects. He graduated in 2008 with a diploma with distinction. In the same year he married his current wife Lena.
After graduating he worked as a designer in grafic design. For several years he worked for different companies (e.g. IKEA) in Krasnoyarsk and then in Moscow and in Saint Petersburg. He worked on projects in the areas of advertising design, home furnishing and painting.

His film work began in 2013 when he attended at a film production course at LENFILM in Saint Petersburg. The course only provided very general information about this industry, but he discovered his passion for film and got an intense impulse to realize his first film ideas. From 2013 to 2017 the fictional films MUSCHEL (2015, 7´) and MAMA (2016, 18´), documentary SYMBOL OF POLITICAL LOYALTY (2017, 5´) were realized. At the same time he took part in other video projects as an editor. The premiere of his first feature film ACTOR LIVES (2017, 77´) also took place in 2017. The three-year work on the film included assembly, interviewing, directing and the entire production process.

In 2014 together with his wife he moved to Berlin, where I continued to work on film projects and met a lot of like-minded people.

From 2016 to 2019 he studied cultural studies at the St. Petersburg Institute of Culture.

Since 2017 he has been a member of filmArche e.V. (Berlin), where he has studied documentary directing. In the film school, he takes part in various film projects. Currently he is working on the documentary series LENIN AGAIN!
